IRRESISTIBLE NEW POP ALBUM FROM GEOFF SMITH

August 4, 2010-Nashville, TN.- If you are up-to-date with the latest technology blogs and podcasts, chances are you may have heard, the name Geoff Smith more than once.

That is because Geoff has been one of the most prolific and unique songwriter/producers in recent years, and most of his work has found its home on the internet.

Geoff Smith, a Nashville based independent artist and producer, has an extensive list of accomplishments and innovations. He is the guy behind the catchy jingles heard on the web for podcasts and new media companies, such as No Agenda with Adam Curry and John C Dvorak, Leo Laporte’s This Week in Tech, and iJustine’s top rated You Tube show, Ask iJ, to name a few. He also founded the highly successful company, RingtoneFeeder.com.

But at the heart of it all, Geoff is a songwriter.

“All I ever want to do is create. I find it just as artistically satisfying to create a commercial for Go Daddy as I do writing a record of pop rock songs” Smith says as he prepares for the release of his new album, That’s Gravity.

And this new album by Geoff Smith stands to be stellar. That’s Gravity is a nine-song collection of upbeat and insanely catchy power pop and rock songs.

“I approached the writing of these songs the same way I do any jingle I write. I wanted to get to the point of the song, make each song memorable like a good pop song should be.”

Geoff’s influences, at first listen, might be very obvious. Many of these songs sound like the Beatles themselves were co-writing with Geoff.

“A Little Rock and Roll” and “Foolin No One” could have been on Rubber Soul or Revolver.

But even the title track, “Gravity,” which is a bouncy, piano-driven shuffle, has a very Geoff Smith sound all on its own.

That is because Geoff has already earned credibility in the web world with his recognizable hooks and background harmonies. And this album has more hooks and harmonies than you can shake a stick at. Songs like “Gravity” or “It’s Gonna Be A Great Day” could easily be heard on an Apple or Target commercial.

It is a record that sounds like it was recorded at one of the top studios in Nashville, New York, or LA. And that is not far from the truth, as Geoff tracked this record at a handful of different home studios and production houses all over the country. Geoff didn’t fly to the coasts to cut this record. He recorded at home and sent and received tracks from other musicians via the web or with his mobile studio on-the-go.
