New Media Expo 2008

Well, I must say it was quite the whirlwind trip. I jumped on the plane at 6am, finally getting to Las Vegas, checked into the hotel and the hurried over to the Las Vegas Convention center with my trusty acoustic guitar.

No sooner had I caffeinated myself at the starbucks next door, I was whisked away to the www.twitlive.tv booth where I got to hang out with none other than Leo Laporte. We talked about my new record, the state of independent music, etc and then I played a few tunes, like “I’m a TWiT” and “Ones and 0s”. I even snuck in a few bars of “Message in a Bottle” when he asked me about my role in my Police Tribute band.

It was so cool and I must say, Leo is very very good at making you feel very much at ease, while we went out live in front of thousands on his live stream.

The rest of the day was even more crazy. I got to meet more influential new media icons and finally got to put faces and handshakes to friends I already have known for years.

This being my third New Media Expo, I knew where I had to be in the evening. After a quick meetup at the Revision 3 party, I hustled over to the show to see Natalie Gelman, Chance, Jonathan Coulton, and the ever so awesome, Richard Cheese. Good times for sure.

Chris Marquardt helped me shoot some scenes for my upcoming video blog for RingtoneFeeder. 

Then I got up the next morning and many hours later, got back to Nashville.

Whew. Nice to see that we are still keeping at this crazy thing called New Media and Podcasting and Independant Music.

Third Bonus Track Released-Rose (Remix)

This week I wanted to release a cool remix version of my old song, Rose, which originally was featured on “Geoff Smith and the Tonewheels“.  Rose has always been a favorite of my fans and mine too actually. So I am really happy to have this cool remix out for everyone to hear. You can get it on the Dynamic Version of Ones and 0s. 

I was really excited when I saw all the fan videos to this song showing up on You Tube a few years ago. Yes the song has some hits of Doctor Who references in it, that was intentional. And the videos really brought it to life.

Behind the scenes for the Ones and 0s video and my concert

I had a great time being interviewed by Cali Lewis on www.calilive.tv with Jonathan Davis, the gut who filmed and edited the video to Ones and 0s. Cali, Jonathan, and I break down the video shot by shot and talk about the techniques we used in the video and also the origin of the song’s meaning. Watch the video here:

Second Bonus Track released for Ones and 0s

I have released the second bonus track for the dynamic album version of Ones and 0s, which can be found at http://www.ringtonefeeder.com/music.php. It is the video to the song Ones and 0s.

 The very talented student filmmaker named Jonathan Davis created, shot, and edited this video. I can’t tell you how amazing of a guy he is. It was like working on a real film set, with the doorway dolly and big Pro camera. But he also took everyday things around my house to make this video look like something that could play on MTV. 

Not only is Jonathan very talented, but he is such a generous soul and so interested in doing good things through art. I can’t wait to work with him again. You really need to work with Jonathan while you can, because he is headed for great things and big big big projects. Thank you Jonathan.
